How We Made Our Decisions

These recommendations are based on several different light bulb wattage levels. Consumer reporting is used to narrow the results down to the most popular output levels, and then the bulbs that performed the best.

Our GC Ratings are based primarily on lumens output per watt, then customer reviews. If a light bulb was repeatedly reported to have significantly lower-than-labeled lifetime, or was significantly less bright than labeled, it was removed from our list. Only CFL light bulbs that perform well AS VERIFIED BY CONSUMER EXPERIENCE made it onto our list of recommendations.
