Today marks the beginning of a new program here on Green Components: our own green products buying guides. We’ve started things off with a summertime buying guide for sunscreen. Find out about the environmental impacts of sunscreen, compare sunscreens and check out our top picks for this summer.

Over the coming months we will be adding green buying guides for several product types, from home improvements and garden, to personal care and cleaning products. Because our buying guides are comprised of green products that have been hand -chosen, -reviewed and -researched by Green Components editors, please be patient while we add to the database of buying guides. Thankfully, we’ve implemented a database interface that allows us to easily update the buying guides as new information becomes available.

Our goal is to provide up-to-date information and product comparison for green-minded shoppers. Each buying guide contains useful information about environmental impacts, personal safety notes, as well as featured, best value and greenest product recommendations. Each buying guide includes a product comparison chart listing the top green products, prices and our GC rating, as well as other criteria dependent on product type. We select products that are the greenest and most widely available. Our GC rating is determined by overall greeness and customer reviews from several leading consumer review sources.
